{"id":338,"date":"2008-09-04T06:53:36","date_gmt":"2008-09-04T13:53:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/we-english.co.uk\/blog\/?p=338"},"modified":"2008-09-07T03:10:48","modified_gmt":"2008-09-07T10:10:48","slug":"boy-racers-bloody-battles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/we-english.co.uk\/blog\/2008\/09\/04\/boy-racers-bloody-battles\/","title":{"rendered":"BOY RACERS &#038; BLOODY BATTLES"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After an unsettled night free-camping in Carlisle&#8217;s Rickerby Park, where we inadvertently found ourselves parked near a road favoured by the cities boy-racers (it was 11.30pm and too late to move!), we&#8217;re now driving through the county of <a title=\"Northumberland on wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Northumberland\" target=\"_blank\">Northumberland<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Once part of the Roman Empire and\u00c2\u00a0the scene of many wars between England\u00c2\u00a0and Scotland, Northumberland has a long and violent history. The bloodiest battle currently taking place in the county (well in Tyne &amp; Weir which was historically part of Northumberland) appears to be at <a title=\"NUFC official website\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nufc.premiumtv.co.uk\/page\/Welcome\" target=\"_blank\">Newcastle United FC<\/a> where the club&#8217;s <a title=\"Article in Guardian Unlimited website\" href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/football\/2008\/sep\/06\/premierleague.newcastleunited\" target=\"_blank\">fans have declared war<\/a> on Mike Ashley, Newscatle&#8217;s owner, over the forced departure of coach Kevin Keegan.
